Richard Steel joined Interel in 2010 as a Senior Associate. He has over 30 years’ experience working in the energy and natural resources space, advising clients on policy and strategy across the EU institutions and in particular on the European Parliament. Richard coordinates Interel’s intelligence gathering services, providing clients with early warning of policy threats and opportunities on a wide range of issues, including energy, natural resources and environmental policy.
He gives regular presentations on the latest institutional developments and will coordinate Interel’s coverage of the 2019 European Parliament elections and the likely impact these are to have on business. He writes articles for a number of publications and is the author of the Postcard from Strasbourg, a light-hearted take on the plenary week in Strasbourg. Richard has also been advising clients on the Brexit process and the latest developments on the future of Europe
Richard graduated from the College of Europe in Bruges (1985) and holds an MA in European Policy Studies from the University of Dundee (1st class honours). He also spent a year at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne.
