Before joining the Interel team, Markus Weidling served as Head of International and Regional Services, Institutional Sales and General Administration for the German news agency dapd, by then the German partner of Associated Press.
From 2008 to 2010, he was posted as Counselor for Development Affairs to the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York. During the time of the “Great Coalition Government” in Germany, he served as chief press officer and head of the public relations department of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development.
For many years, Markus worked as editor and correspondent, inter alia for the two large public German TV networks ARD and ZDF. He studied social and political sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin and at the University of Cape Town, earning a master`s degree in 2001.
