Managing Director, China
Mark Pinner is managing director for Interel in Beijing. He specializes in advising international clients on Chinese inbound investment issues and Chinese clients on investment in the U.K. and E.U. He has worked with corporate, SME, and non-profit clients such as Alibaba, Wiley, CSA Group, AGFA, several equity research houses, and a digital currency provider. In addition to managing all operations for Interel’s China practice, he coordinates the Asia-Pacific organization for the Interel Global Practice, or IGP.
Before joining Interel, Mark spent five years working for Lenovo in its Beijing head office, where he built up the company’s international product communications capability and coordinated with its global communications, marketing, and regional sales teams. In this role, he supported the internationalisation of one of the leading privately-owned Chinese multinational companies.
Prior to this, Mark spent several years in public affairs positions in both London and Beijing. Among his many roles was briefing U.K. Conservative Party Members of Parliament on upcoming Parliamentary debates. At this time he worked closely with senior Conservative Party politicians such as the current Prime Minister Theresa May, when she was Shadow Secretary of State for Transport.
Mark serves as a commentator on China and U.K. issues writing thought pieces on macro-political developments in China. He has made numerous appearances in media outlets, including Phoenix TV’s Chinese language “Tiger Talk” and official Chinese state news channel CGTN’s leading English current affairs discussion programme “Dialogue”.
