George McGregor is Managing Partner at Interel’s London office, where he leads the U.K. practice. He sits on Interel’s Executive Committee and has specific responsibility for ensuring excellence in client relations across the company.
At Interel George works with a wide range of blue-chip clients, providing strategic counsel, devising their public affairs strategies and lobbying campaigns. Among the clients he has advised are Alibaba, Coca-Cola, Expedia, Nissan, Red Bull, Rio Tinto, Royal Dutch Shell, SABMiller and Virgin Group to name but a few. Recent work on tackling gambling-related harm through reducing stakes on fixed odds betting terminals earned him a nomination for the 2018 “Public Affairs Campaign of the Year” by PRWeek.
George’s career in public affairs has spanned 30 years. Earlier in his career, he was special adviser to the Secretary of State for Scotland. In this role he promoted the integrity of the UK and ensured a smooth working relationship between the British and Scottish governments. Prior to that, he was head of policy for UNISON Scotland, an economist for the Employment Department, and a Washington, D.C.-based researcher for U.S. Congressman Flake from New York’s sixth district.
George is listed in PRWeek’s “Power Book” of the U.K.’s leading communications professionals. He is also vice-chair of the Association of Professional Political Consultants, the U.K.’s leading self-regulatory body for promoting ethical lobbying.
A native of the Scottish Highlands, George graduated from the University of Glasgow with an M.A. (Hons) in Economics and Politics.
