Claus Sorensen worked in several Commission cabinets covering agriculture, international trade, development and the fight against fraud. He then worked as Head of Unit in International affairs, trade and environment in DG Environment, before becoming Director for International Affairs: Climate Change, Trade/WTO, Biodiversity, Environmental Acquis also at DG Environment.
He was also Director General for DG Communication and then DG Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection, before becoming Senior Adviser to European Commission President Juncker.
Mr. Sorensen holds a Master’s degree in Economic Science and was a lecturer at the University of Copenhagen.
Among other special assignments, Claus is currently a member of the WHO Advisory Group on response to health emergencies and outbreaks.
