Alex Slater is a member of the IGP global team and founder of Clyde Group, a Washington, D.C.-based boutique public relations and public affairs firm. Throughout his career, Alex has advised global corporations, major non-profits, advocacy groups and start-ups. Slater helps build, enhance and protect reputations, engage stakeholders, activate customers and navigate complex situations.
Alex started his career as the first employee of the Glover Park Group, leaving a decade later as managing director of public affairs. In 2011, he was tapped to grow a public affairs practice at SKDKnickerbocker. In those roles, he advised clients on some of the most complex communications challenges of the past decades.
He conceived and executed highly successful public affairs campaigns for blue-chip companies, including Ford, American Airlines, and the Apollo Education Group. He has extensive expertise in financial services, having led a number of companies through IPOs and having handled major accounts for JP Morgan Chase, Chase Cards, Sallie Mae, the American Bankers Association, and Visa.
Alex holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of Cambridge and a master’s in communications, opinion research, corporate and public relations from the University of Pennsylvania.
