Interel Belgium supports Marie-Amélie Lenaerts’ participation in the Mini-Transat sailing race
Interel Belgium is proud to announce its support of the Belgian sailor Marie-Amélie Lenaerts, 32, who is about to cross the starting line of the notorious sailing race “Mini-Transat.” With this remarkable challenge Marie-Amélie will have to show leadership, autonomy and determination, values that Interel Belgium stands for.
This race, going from La Rochelle to Martinique, is held on boats whose length does not exceed 6 meters 50. During the 30 days of competition, the 87 participants only have access to a GPS and a short-range radio. However, no contact with the mainland is allowed. Completely autonomously, Marie-Amélie will only be able to rely on her experience when making decisions. Thanks to her professional experience in consulting, the idea of making important decisions and being strategic does not scare her. This is the main reason why Interel Belgium supports this former consultant during such a race.
“I had never been confronted with as much ‘feel-and-see’ as I have been since I started sailing Minis: I test new things, I fail, I adapt and I learn. And learning is the main objective of this adventure.”
This competition will allow Marie-Amélie to fulfill what no Belgian woman has done before. Indeed, crossing the finish line will make Marie-Amélie the first Belgian woman to have crossed the Atlantic during a competition, a title that we believe to be well-deserved.
