Accessing new markets

Virgin Money’s successful financial services business wanted to enter into the UK banking market following the nationalisation of a major North Eastern mortgage bank. 

How we helped: Interel put in place a popular and structured campaign in support of the bid which focussed on local MPs and trade unions as well Ministers and civil servants. The campaign emphasised Virgin Money’s commitment to maintaining staff jobs and to meeting the Government’s objectives of reducing UK taxpayers’ shareholding in banks. Thanks to the campaign, the bid was succesful and Richard Branson announced that Virgin Money would be entering the UK banking market
