This week we highlight the 3 main themes on the agenda at the European Parliament:
- Tax rulings: The TAXE committee set up to investigate the Luxleaks scandal will adopt its non-binding report on how to fight tax evasion. Expect criticism of multinationals for not giving evidence.
- Refugee crisis: hot on the heels of another summit to seek a European response, the EPP group seems divided between the Juncker and Tusk camps.
- Volkswagen: MEPs have criticised the Commission for a lacklustre response to the emissions scandal and will adopt this week a tough-talking resolution on future action.
This week’s MEP to watch is Pilar del Castillo, the consumers’ champion, who finally steers through the ban on roaming surcharges for using mobile phones abroad as of June 2017.
