In 2015, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure already recognize the beneficial potential of BIM. Since then, the legislative branch has expressed similar support in the coalition contract. The new government is concerned with several construction projects, which are delayed seemingly due to inefficient project management. For instance, the construction of the new Berlin airport (BER), which has far exceeded the initially proposed budget. BIM is able to address such lacking capacities, creating powerful synergies between old and new infrastructure.
