MEPs were in belligerent mood at this month’s Strasbourg session as they blocked Council appointments to key bodies, demanded answers on the resignation of Maltese Commissioner John Dalli, and attacked the slow progress of Europe’s Member States in tackling the euro crisis. Meanwhile, Commission proposals to impose mandatory gender quotas on company boards were derailed and the Commission set out its plans for new initiatives in 2013.
