The current political situation in Poland

2015 was an important year in Polish politics, with a Presidential election in spring which resulted in a surprise victory by Andrzej Duda. This was followed by a historic Parliamentary election in October, which saw a single party gain an overall majority for the first time since 1989, taking control of the lower house and the senate.

We sat down with Marek Matraszek from CEC Government Relations, Interel Global Partnership member, to discuss the current situation in Poland and what new policies might mean for businesses.

He spoke to us about possible policy changes, in particular in relation to the tax burden for business, and of course Euroscepticism. Could we be looking at a possible ‘Plexit’? And just what are the attitudes in Poland towards Europe?
