Yesterday, Italian citizens voted in a referendum on whether to accept a package of constitutional reforms put forward by Matteo Renzi, the Prime Minister and leader of the centre-left Democratic Party.


Yesterday, Italian citizens voted in a referendum on whether to accept a package of constitutional reforms put forward by Matteo Renzi, the Prime Minister and leader of the centre-left Democratic Party.

The reform was rejected by voters leading Mr Renzi to stick by his promise to resign, leading commentators to question whether Italy is the next political upset to the unity of the European Union.
